Three dimensions of job satisfaction

Its that time of the year when you should consider what you have achieved in 2020. Not just for the company you work for, but for yourself and for the future of you.

Personally I look to optimize, not in the same order:
- How much Im re-numerated?
- What all did I learn?
- What changes did I bring in the real world?

Money is real. Don’t short-sell yourself. Afterall you are probably not working for a Charity organization. There is a balance between money earned and the work-life balance always. Don’t just look for one side of the coin. You should be content in this area.

Comp Sci engineering workers (as I would like to call myself), are paid relatively higher because the tech landscape is evolving as I write this down. What was hot, 2 years ago, may not be today. We are perhaps in the middle of the beginning in this software industrialization. Not only your skills, but your experience applying those skills are counted by companies. You should be working in a place where you are adding/updating 5 lines to your resume that you are proud of and the update is relevant to the current job market. You should be atleast happy about this in your current job.

You can earn and you can learn, but perhaps from the maslow’s pyramid’s shadow, you begin to ask yourself ‘how did you help the world? What customers are happy because of your work? How many connections between buyer/seller you made possible?’ You need to be able to answer these questions, to feel at peace over the longer period. You should be passionate about this area as this is what makes you look forward to the Monday rather dread it. This is a non-negotiable for me.

There are very few spots at the cross-section of all three. I believe, UberEats India charter is one among it. We are hiring Senior Managers, Staff Engineers, BE/iOS/Android/Web developers. DM me, I would love to catch-up with you, if you want to discuss, how everything I wrote above is directly fulfilled in the missions (not just jobs) we have.
